Merli-Sarniski timbering sign now

Fell Mountain (aka Merli-Sarnoski) is a County park in Carbondale, Pennsylvania. This petition is to STOP the harvesting WHERE THERE ARE TRAILS and establish a "buffer zone". This would leave 100 feet (preferably) to each side of the trail untouched. The Lackawanna Bike Club, who spent years making this a destination for all outdoor enthusiasts, made the trails. We fear the trails are now in danger. The trails are what bring people to this destination. We have users from Upstate New York all the way to Washington D.C.

Mr. Rick Peters decided to do "Selective Harvesting". This was originally described as an area that DID NOT include our trails. We recently found out the area had at least tripled and NOW INCLUDED approximately 7 miles of trails. Several people in our community have witnessed the damage that heavy machinery does during harvesting, including ruts that are waist deep, branches left behind and excessive briars growing in. We want to make sure 100\% of the money goes right back into the park. This has deeply saddened the mountain bike community and other user groups all around our area. Please sign this petition to save our trails and let Mr. Peters know how much we love our trail system.
