Matilda Re-Release in Widescreen sign now

On December 7, 1999, Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment ("the Studio") released "Matilda" on DVD. Despite the studio's usually consistent policy of releasing their films in their original aspect ratio, "Matilda" received a cropped full frame "Pan & Scan" transfer. This wonderful adaptation of Roald Dahl's book deserves an accurate presentation acceptable by all it's fans - young and old. It is greatly disappointing that the Studio made an exception to their OAR policy and we, the undersigned, appeal to the studio to make a special edition release with an Anamorphic widescreen transfer preserving the movie's theatrical aspect ratio.

A loss of approximately 43\% of the frame is unacceptable. The Studio is denying themselves sales from a potentially large customer base by not having a widescreen release. A fresh transfer supervised by Danny Devito would be embraced.

Columbia Tristar, please revisit this title and release it with an appropriate presentation. Thank you for your time and please consider this when planning future releases.

Do you only buy OAR DVDs? No There is absolutely no reason for this not to be available in OAR. Please re-consider. Thanks.

Do you only buy OAR DVDs? No I've been wanting to see this for a while. A butchered to fill the screen release is not a release, just a waste of disc space.

Do you only buy OAR DVDs? No I own over 600 DVDs, and ALL are in the original aspect ratio, as the film makers intended. If you release this title, or any of your other products in a pan-and-scan format only, you will not get my sale.

Do you only buy OAR DVDs? No I love this movie, and would rather buy it domestically, rather than internationally, to get the widescreen version!

Do you only buy OAR DVDs? No This isnt a movie that I would intend on picking up, but releasing a movie only in its non-OAR format is unacceptable.

Do you only buy OAR DVDs? No Educating people what OAR means, is cheaper than Pan & Scanning each film for TV. If people are sending DVDs back because of "black bars", put a quick intro in explaining the original size of the film in theaters.

Do you only buy OAR DVDs? No I don't care what the movie is, the only way any film should be presented is in the way the director intended you to see it, which is the Original Aspect Ratio, not pan and scan.
