math grade sign now

To the intelligent and open-minded Mrs. Branigan:

So far this year I must admit that I have been slacking in your class. It is shown in my grade that is as of this day a C. I understand how you can think that your grading system is a good idea and that it may benefit your students in a better way then the normal grading system that is in place in other classes. It is in fact the opposite in some cases. My grades on some tests havent been the best, but I have done pretty well on my quizzes. I am not saying that your grading system is wrong, just that it hurts more students than it helps. For example, I got a perfect on my first quiz, which raised my grade, but since I did worse on the other quiz my grade is now two percent lower. It went from a seventy-two to a seventy. This is not my fault, but the result of your grading system. The way your system works is that quizzes, tests, and homework are each in their own category rather then all together. After the first quiz, I had a hundred percent in the quiz section. After the next quiz, which I got an eighty-five percent on, my quiz grade lowered to a ninety-three percent. This makes sense except if you compare it to a normal grading system that has all three categories in one. Even though the second quiz was lower then the first, it still should of raised my grade because a B is higher then my original total of a C. I am not writing this out spite or to annoy you, but rather to sway your opinion on your grading system. Maybe you could reconsider and put into affect a normal grading system. I dont know all my facts about your system, maybe there is some advantage that I havent seen or maybe it just hasnt affected me. But from what I know about your system, it is designed to hurt students grades. Please do not take this in a bad way because obviously you are an outstanding teacher because there are students in your class who are getting As and doing phenomenal, but in my case it isnt you but your system of grading that hurts me.
