Lowering the Driving Age in Massachusetts sign now

Due to recent accidents and fatalities on the road, Massachusetts is looking for a solution to decrease deaths by driving. Their ideal solution is to raise the minimum driving age for teenagers.
Political officials have been pushing to raise the minimum driving age for the past several years. Massachusetts already has the highest License age in the country 16 (except New Jersey at 17 Years). If the age raise is put into effect, the age to receive a License will become 17 making it the highest in the country. The ages are being raised to prevent immature and inexperienced drivers off the road, ''Raising the age is the wrong thing. I see kids at 16 years old . . . most of them, they can drive fine (Leung 1), as said by David Leung the owner of a driving school in Boston.
The Driving age laws currently state that a junior can receive a driving permit at 16 years old and can take a license test at 16. The new law would be 16 for a permit and 17 for a license. In theory, these changes would allow drivers to learn to drive better before being allowed onto the road. If a driver must wait longer to drive how much better can they be when they apply for a permit or a license?, ''It has nothing to do with age. It's experience and education (Hill 1) an expert on teen driving and state representative Bradford Hill.
The new laws attack junior drivers looking to get a license or a permit, but what about illegal drivers? Teenage drivers make up about 7\% of the driving population and about 15\% of all car accidents, but more than half of those people are driving without a legal license. This means that younger drivers need to wait longer to practice their driving primarily because of illegal drivers.
