Lou Dobbs' show spreading misinformation on Highly Skilled H1-B workers. sign now

From: Concerned Highly Skilled H1-B workers

The Chairman, CEO Time Warner Inc and Senior Corporate Executives.

Dear Mr. Parsons,

We are deeply disturbed by the false and mischievous comments aired on Mr. Lou Dobbs show, on your CNN network July 9, 2007. On his show Mr. Dobbs interviewed Rep Tom Tancredo(R), Colorado who claimed that H1-B workers overstay their visas and become illegal. Even though Mr. Dobbs didn't make the comments himself he agreed with them. At the same time since the comments were aired on Lou Dobbs' show on your CNN TV network, both CNN and Lou Dobbs are liable.

Let us straighten the facts here for you on H1-B visas.
1) H1-B visa is issued for a maximum of 6 years in increments of 3 years. Not 5 years as claimed by Rep Tancredo on Lou Dobbs show.

2) All H1-B workers are highly skilled and the only reason they are hired and given the visa is because US corporations are unable to find an American citizen who is educated enough or qualified enough to do the job of a skilled worker.

3) Before any H1B worker begins his job the employer is required by law to give USCIS/INS verification of immigration status of the H1-B worker.

4) H1-B workers dont make minimum wage unlike some illegal workers who cross the border. It is required by law to pay an H1-B a minimum of $40000. A lot of them have Masters degrees and Phds and make in the range of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

5) Medical doctors, Researchers, Engineers, Biotechnologists, CEOs, CFOs you name it, a lot of them are H1-B visa holders.

6) While on H1-B status most workers end up being sponsored for Green Cards by the companies they work for. Hence they dont return to their home country after they get their green card.

Saying H1-B workers are illegal and other incorrect statements only tarnishes the image of your company Time Warner. Mr. Dobbs is just trying to improve the ratings of his show by spreading false rumors and dispersing incorrect information and at the same time tarnishing the image of a highly skilled immigrant community.

From the records I obtained from USCIS/INS, Time Warner and its subsidiaries your esteemed company who Lou Dobbs works for, hired at least 55 H1-B workers in 2006. Did your company hire these workers illegally ? Did your immigration law department check the validity of their visas ?. I am sure these are very difficult questions to answer. There is a very popular English proverb People who live in glass houses should not throw stones and this very well applies to Time Warner Inc. Lou Dobbs crying foul about H1-B workers while his own employer hires tons of them. I have attached the details of the H1-B approvals for Time Warner Inc. and subsidiaries which I obtained from USCIS.

We hereby request an apology from Lou Dobbs and CNN. His show is falsifying information and denigrating a very law abiding immigrant community based on lies and falsehood. Your network offers one of the foremost media outlet to millions of Americans. In view of this issue we request you to seriously reconsider Mr Dobbs' employment with CNN.
