Let All Athletes Be Recognized - Athens 2004 Olympics sign now

This petition is based upon the judgment and accreditations of Athens 2004 Olympics. This petition specifically addresses the official sport listed as Wheelchair Racing, with such distances as 800m, or 1500m. It is not a Paralympics sport, but indeed, an official Olympics sport. It being a sport, the results should be reflected in medal standings, but the results are not.

A specific example of the sport is the Women's Wheelchair 800m that had taken place on August 22, 2004. It was held in the heart of the Olympic Stadium, on the track. The official participants are as follows:

Lane 1 Blauwet, Cheri - USA
Lane 2 Grey Thompson, Tanni - GBR
Lane 3 Hunkeler, Edith - SUI
Lane 4 Petitclerc, Chantal - CAN
Lane 5 Stankovich, Eliza - AUS
Lane 6 Sauvage, Louise - AUS
Lane 7 Roy, Diane - CAN
Lane 8 Dawes, Christie - AUS

The results after the race are as follows:

1 PETITCLERC Chantal
2 STANKOVICH Eliza
3 SAUVAGE Louise
4 ROY Diane
5 BLAUWET Cheri
6 HUNKELER Edith
7 DAWES Christie
8 GREY THOPMSON Tanni

The following petition is aimed at the demand of recognizing the medal placements in the country's medal standings. As seen, a gold medal should have gone to Canada, and a bronze and silver awarded to Australia. While the individuals do get to bring home a medal, their accomplishments are in no way reflected in the total of their country's medal standings.

The undersigned feel that this is a shame beyond explanation. The Olympics is an international organization, which is excluding and discriminating against individuals that have participated in the wheelchair racing sport. The athletes deserve as much recognition and reflection for their accomplishments as much as any other athlete to have won, or participated in an Olympic event.

We, the undersigned, hereby declare and demand that any athlete to have participated and won a medal in any Olympics sport be reflected in a country's medal standings. Merely receiving a medal is not enough to call recognition. If the winners of the sport are equal to any of the undersigned, let that be shown.
