Legalization of Marijuana sign now

The legalization of Marijuana is deep rooted cause that needs some serious looking into. Are protesters simply a drug addicted culture dying to have their habit gratified? Or is it possible that a great number of protesters can see an actual cause in such a petition?

It makes little sense that marijuana is NOT legal, considering all the ramifications of alcohol. If one can drink a potentially lethal substance, then why not smoke an almost perfectly safe herb?

Here listed are a number of reasons why Marijuana should be made legal. (These reasons have been collected by various sources)

1. Marijuana is not as dangerous as both alcohol and cigarettes. Considering it is impossible to overdose on marijuana but likely to overdose on any other drug, then why not?

2. There are more dangerous and even lethal drugs ON the market. People are turning to abuse these substances as they can be obtained legally, rather then legally obtaining a safer substance such as marijuana.

3. It has not been scientifically proven that marijuana is a gateway drug. The majority of heavy pot smokers stick with marijuana and never move on to new substances.

4. Think of all the money that a government could make on the sale and distribution of marijuana! The profit that could be made by legal government bud would be no less then explosive!

5. The legalization of marijuana would reduce the amount of illegal importation and exportation of the drug. Likely, this trade would also lessen with other illegal substances as well.

6. Production of marijuana could create jobs. Not just for Canadians but for those countries that are poor and grow even better marijuana. The cultivation alone would employ thousands!

7. Many industries could use the other products that the cannabis sativa plants provides: hemps, oils, textiles, ect.

8. Marijuana is safer then many legal activities; drinking, eating disorders, self injury, salvia. ect.

9. If marijuana is safe enough for one day out of the year legal (4:20), and for medicinal use, then why not make it legal?

10. The costs of holding people, court costs and jail in relation to marijuana is staggering. Why not use this money elsewhere?

I hope that in reading the above reasons, it is beyond clear that this truly is an important cause.
