Khammam killings sign now

The brutal killing of eight innocent persons involved in the movement for land rights in Mudugonda in Khammam district of the southern state of Andhra Pradesh in India has once again raised the issue of state's repression to the fore. All democratic and progressive elements in this country are hereby called upon to condemn this barbaric incident in no uncertain terms. Though the movement is led by communist parties, it has seen a massive participation by ordinary and poor people longing for a place to live and a piece of cultivable land to survive. This petition has nothing to do with politics and is totally concerned about the very survival of the poor in this rapidly progressing national economy.
