Keep Salvia Divinorum Legal sign now

Hello people of whom this may concern,
I created this petition as I saw that the other author of a similar petition sounded ill-informed and had a lack of supporting reasons as to why this herb should not be deemed illicit in this wonderful country. The previous one sounded more enraged than logically though out, so for the cause I will make my case:

The herb Salvia divinorum, a type of mint leaf related to a popular garden plant has been legal for years. During its entire history, not one known death has occurred as a direct result of ingesting, or inhaling the vaporized leaf or the active ingredient salvinorin A. In the case with the boy who committed suicide Salvia was falsely accused. During the autopsy, no traces of savinorin A were found, yet the parents seemingly sought comfort in pointing the finger at something. If used safely (i.e. having someone sober there while using it) is safer than any other mind altering substance because of its extremely low toxin level (about 10x less than tobacco, and up to 30x less than marijuana)relatively short high(usually a maximum of 15 minutes, and the property of being non-addictive (which nearly eliminates people that would abuse the substance, and the potential to over-dose). A short high would get people back to thinking clearly if such a need may arise. So far, case studies showed that the only side effect shown was above average perspiration, with most cases having at worst a mild headache the next morning, but generally there was no hangover at all. In most cases people reported anti-depressant type effects which may indicate possible future medical use. By all means, driving while high on this herb should be punished by law, as it is completely irresponsible. Salvia divinorum, is far safer than tobacco and alcohol with not a single directly related death. The only reason it is being considered as a new inductee to the Schedule I controlled substances list is because it does little to none for the economy unlike tobacco and alcohol. This herb may in fact save lives however, because if someone decides to smoke some Salvia instead of downing most of that bottle of hard liquor, then they may have just been spared alcohol poisoning. In all, keeping the herb legal will do more good than bad for our great country.
