PETITION AGAINST INSTITUTIONALISED RACISM IN THE UK JUDICIARY

We, the undersigned, register our strong protest and express our deep concerns at the inherent racism that seems to pervade the British judiciary. We call upon the Prime Minister of the UK and his Lord Chancellor to:

1. Conduct a public enquiry on why three Court of Appeal Judges in the Kamlesh Bahl case against the Law Society failed to condemn racist comments made by a high ranking Law Society official about Shariah law - but instead ruled that a black Asian Hindu could not be offended by racist remarks about Muslim Shariah law because they were directed at a Hindu.

2. Analyse and correct the human rights violations of the above ruling since this new case law has established that race hate can only be determined by the specific race or religion of a victim -instead of the intention of the perpetrator or the victims feelings.

3. Issue a public statement declaring that there is no place for racism in the Judiciary in the UK.

4. Appoint a committee to consider whether the three judges from the second highest court in the UK, Lord Justices Gibson, Latham and Kay, are fit to continue to act as judges in light of these serious allegations against them.

We wish to also register our deep anger that the judges ignored the fact that when racists use abusive language against Asians they do not make such artificial distinctions and commonly refer to all Asians as Pakis. We believe this ruling to be itself racist having violated fundamental human rights and tantamount to making all minority and ethnic groups second-class citizens.

We call upon you to respond to this petition in keeping with the diversity and equality agendas that the UK government is keen to promote in Britain.
