Justice for Malonga Casquelourd sign now

We the citizens of the Bay Area and international community of friends, artists, colleagues, and students of Malonga Casquelourd strongly urge the District Attorney of Alameda County, Thomas J. Orloff, the Senior Deputy Attorney, Russ Guintini, and Deputy District Attorney, Paris Coleman to prosecute Martin Burgermyer for the death of Malonga Casquelourd to the fullest extent of the law. Mr. Burgermyer admitted to being drunk on the night of the accident. He was traveling the wrong way on a one-way street when he crashed into Malongas car, causing his immediate death at the scene of the accident. Despite these troubling facts, Mr. Burgermyer spent only 48 hours in custody and was initially released without bail. We fear that the District Attorneys office is predisposed towards leniency and bias for the defendant and will fail to ensure that Mr. Burgermyer face the consequences for his actions on the early morning of June 15, 2003 (Fathers Day). After several court hearings, Mr. Burgermyer will finally be arraigned on August 20, 2003, two months after Malongas death.

People will respect the law when the law respects us. Please use the law now to show that Malonga Casquelourd's life had value. Causing a death through drunk driving is second degree MURDER, and murderers must be punished. They live while their victims di

It is especially important the this individual be prosecuted to the fulliest extend of the law. To allow an admitted drunk to walk away from this situation does an injustiice to all of us. The death of an individual should always command serious prosecuti

Drunk-driving crimes are 100% preventable. With the massive effort and campaigns against these potential tragedies it is inconceivable that they still occur. Freedom comes with responsibility. By not prosecuting we trivialize the very freedoms that make u

Burgermeyer should be tried for murder. He chose to drink that night/morning, and knowingly got behind the wheel.
