Increasing Tobacco Free Spaces in Chinatown sign now

We the undersigned are concerned about the harmful effects of second hand smoke. We are supportive of Team O2, from tobacco youth leaders of Boston Asian Youth Essential Service, in their efforts to increase tobacco-free homes and public spaces in the Chinatown community.

According to the Surgeon Generals report, there is no safe level of secondhand smoke exposure. Smoke travels between units through air ducts, cracks in the walls, floors and elevators shafts.

In February, 2010 Mayor Menino declared that Boston would be the first major city in the United States to transition all of its public housing to become smoke-free by September 2012.
