Incorporate FireWire back into Apple iPods sign now

Apple Computer incorporated, creator of Firewire and the iPod music player, had begun to phase out Firewire from their iPod Music Player line when shipping their 4th generation iPods, and now has done away with Firewire completely.

According to Wiki, Apple discontinued supporting Firewire in iPods to make them thinner. They also took the cheap way out, since USB circuit boards are cheaper as well. They took into consideration the amount of people who have USB in their computers, since every mac starting with the iMac has USB standard (regardless if it is 1.1 or 2.0) and that majority of PC's shipping come with USB, however they did not take into consideration speed; only style.

While there may be a demand on the market for thinner stylish players, there is also a demand for faster equipment. Research has shown that Firewire 400 (400mbps) is noticeably faster than USB 2.0 (480mbps) and when compared to USB 1.1 (11mbps) is like lightning according to this chart (http://www.digit-life.com/articles/usb20vsfirewire/) as well as feedback from consumers. While Apple may have thought that this was a good marketing strategy to discontinue Firewire, it has steered many people away from purchasing iPods and those people may have discouraged others as well. Most of these people who probably won't buy a new iPod would be consumers using computers with USB 1.1; most of those people Mac users who have Firewire; some of those Mac users who purchased a Mac because of its Firewire capabilities.

Apple can keep up with the demand for style by offering a stylish player (that may or may not offer Firewire) and at the same time offer another player that has Firewire capabilities (like when Apple had the iPod Nano out with the 4th generation Color iPods.)

"The Undersigned" all agree to the above, and as a group believe that Apple Computer inc. should incorporate Firewire back into iPods.
