Immediate Resignation of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the Recall of Higher Officials in the Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia sign now

We, migrant Filipinos presently working in various areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia unites with the broad calls of the Filipino people for the immediate resignation of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as President of the Philippines because of massive cheating in the last elections, rampant corruption, continued killings and abductions of leaders of progressive organizations, worsening economic crisis, unhampered rise in the prices of basic commodities and criminal negligence to the plight of migrant Filipinos in various parts of the world.

In her administration, we, Filipino migrants were extemely commodified and levied with soaring fees - in fact, 13 billion pesos were forcedly collected from us before we even leave the country. To add further insult to injury, we were called "the new heroes" because our remmittances amounting to 8-15 billion dollars every year shore up the Philippine economy; but, despite all these, we do not enjoy the services and protection of the government.

Many went home as cadavers without justice. Thousands were jailed without succor, raped, physically abused and maltreated; wages were delayed or deprived, among other forms of contractual violations; including discrimination.

The situation of the victimized Filipino migrants here in Saudi Arabia is the clearest example of crminial negligence of the Arroyo government and her inutile diplomatic posse in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Embassy officials enjoy bloated salaries and benefits but do not attend to the cases of migrant Filipinos in jails, keeps silent of cases of rape among Filipinas, remains blind to employers who do not give salary to their personnel for two to three years, ignores the free repatriation of the "runaways" or "stranded" and do not find enough ways to transfer or "legalize" TNT and "undocumented" Filipinos.

In this light, we therefore unite and sign our names in this petition, to:

1. Demand the immediate resignation of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and form a coalition government that would represent all sectors of society.

2. Recall Ambassador Bahnarim Guinomla, Vice Consul Jose Jacob, Labor Attache Bulyok Nelong at Labor Attache Delmer Cruz.

3. Save the life of Rey Cortez and other jailed Filipinos in Saudi Arabia.

4. Repatriate for free the "stranded" Filipinos in Saudi Arabia.

5. Legalize all TNTs and undocumented Filipinos or transfer them to other sponsors.

6. Develop bilateral relations with the government of Saudi Arabia, by:

a. creating a Consulate in the Eastern Province;

b. increasing the penalty for employers who delay the salaries of their employees;

c. blacklisting and / or penalty to employers with contractual violations;

d. ensure the signing and implementation of the United Nations Convention for the Protection of the Rights and Welfare of Migrants and their Families; and,

e. create a fund for the shelter, food, medical services and livelihood distressed Filipinos.
