Help us remove the Green Line on Commercial Street sign now

We, the undersigned, believe in the beauty, safety and historic significance of Provincetown as well as its all inclusive community spirit. This petition expresses our concern for those values being undermined by the recent introduction of the Green Line on Commercial Street. While we may not have opposed this line at initial meetings held by the Board of Selectmen, we believe today that it is visually obtrusive and dangerous. Please, we request of you to give us the chance to start with a clean slate and remove (paint over) the Green Line until a true community wide discussion is held where financial interests are only one part of the dialogue. Some of the undersigned are gallery owners, artists, and business owners - the very community that the proponents of the Green Line say they hope to represent. We hope this action will encourage all Provincetown residents - business owners, artists, youth, elderly, summer and year round residents - to participate in the critical dialogue that will shape the visual landscape of of our beloved town. We see the bigger picture and are concerned that our public roadways are being turned into billboards for commerce. Let this petition be the first step in showing that Provincetown is truly a fair and inclusive community in our commitment to its historic and aesthetic preservation.

I grew up in Provincetown, my family's from Provincetown.. it'll always be my home. The green line is crass, and a blight on not only the aesthetic beauty and the cultural history of the town. Anyone who supports it doesn't understand the town's history a

If this thing stays we mind as well paint a blue line to the t-shirt shops, and a red line to the bars. I can't believe anyone voted for such a tacky addiction to our town. I'm ashamed for myself for not being there to vote against it. Town Provincetown
