General Hospital: Saving The Longest Running Soap in History sign now

As my fellow Soap Opera Viewers know, one of the two soaps scheduled to cancel, All My Children (AMC), has finished its rein and its last episode aired on September 23, 2011. The next Soap Opera to be thrown off of ABC 30 is One Life to Live (OLTL), which will end sometime in January. Though the shows will be going to the internet, some characters will not be joining the show. This makes the show lose its touch. Many fear that General Hospital (GH), the longest running Soap Opera, will be canceled as well. The show was started in 1963 and has been going on ever since. The show is not only entertaining, but also is very informative. General Hospital has reached many subjects over the years such as: rape, drug abuse, drinking abuse, beatings (dating abuse, child abuse), AIDS, Cancer, Grief, and much more. The show doesnt just show these things; they show how to get help at the end of the episode, including numbers of people to call. The most recent act of this was this past spring and summer with characters Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary), Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst)when Elizabeths (Liz) son was hit by a car by her former lover, Luckys, father, Luke Spencer. After Luke hit Lizs son, he started to drink heavily. This caused his two sons, daughter, wife and step son to make an intervention for him. Through this time, General Hospital showed grief and addiction to alcohol. At the end of the epsiode, a number was shown for alcoholics.

General Hospital is a show that is not only entertaining to watch in the afternoon, with all its lovers and mob scenes, but it also teaches us things that are valuable to learn. Some things that happen to people on the show actually happen to people here in our world. Canceling General Hospital would be a mistake for those reasons. General Hospital should go on and teach more people things and help them with such problems. To some people, like me, the characters are more than that. Their part of the fictional family that exist everywhere. People on YouTube make millions of brilliant videos for the people that are on General Hospital. They care for these characters as if they really exist and some even make up story lines with their favorite characters, some make tributes to people that have died on the show.
Signing this document will show me and many others, that there are people out there that actually care that this show and everybody and everything in it says on the air.
