If you were to dig deeper into the evidence, you would not automatically assume she DID take the drugs in her bag. Her brother was claimed to have been carrying her bag, so she had no idea that an extra 5 kg was added.

The Bali 9 were caught with the drugs strapped to their bodies, so they cannot say they were inncoent. Shappelle's 'drugs' were in her bag and she was more than happy to have the customs officers check her bag. I don't think someone who knew they had 4kg of marijuana would allow that.
