Free My Father Robert Bedzyk sign now

TO: The Ohio Parole Board

I am the son of Robert Bedzyk (inmate # A204234)who is coming up for Parole in May of 2009. I was born 10/20/1985, I was just a little over 2 years old at the time of the horrible incident involving my father and David Iannicca in 1987.

I know only of stories of this fateful night which took the life of David, because I was not present. I feel my father was misreprented in this case. The stories I was told about this night was that David's fiance was trying to make him (David) jealous by flirting with my father, he was then asked to leave and he was already in his car getting ready to leave and was pulled out of the car by David and his friends. He reached into his tackle box and grabbed the knife to defend himself.

There were no other witnesses to the incident other than David's friends. In other words, it was everyone else's word against Robert's.

I have read online and in a recent Cleveland Newspaper article that my father is not remorseful. How can anyone say that without asking my father? He has missed my entire life, I have had to be raised by my Uncle. I will not deny that my parents (who were married when I was born) had some small drug problems at the time. They dibbled and dabbed in Marijuana and drinking liquor. Since my father was arrested and sentenced to life in prison, my mother (his wife) turned to even dangerous drugs and threw herself into a downward spiral of her own life and just now 21 years later is starting to get her life back together. This is the reason I had to be raised by my Uncle.

Everyone is stating that Robert's actions didn't affect other people's lives. David's family wasn't the only one affected. I have missed both of my parents and I know that my father is remorseful for this horrible accident. I do know my father did not intend to kill anyone.

My father has received his high school diploma, studied some college courses and have learned some carpentry skills while being in prison. He was not involved or initiate the Lucasville Riots. He was only another inmate that was in the Lucasville prison at the time.

Sincerely,

Anthony James Bedzyk

21 years is a lifetime, it seems fair that this man should have a chance on the outside. He has paid his time, for the crime. What benefit will be served by keeping him locked up?
