For A Better Bangladesh sign now

Over the years Bangladesh has been taking slow but sure steps towards progress. This is demonstrated through the steady increase in GDP, per capita income and rating in the UNDPs Human Development Index. Participation in democratic power transfer from one government to the next is another great example. You and your respective governments have contributed towards these achievements and you can be proud of that fact.

However Bangladesh has much more potential in moving towards prosperity for all its citizens. Countries like Malaysia, Singapore and others have shown that with a great leader a country can completely change for the better in a very short time. Initiative for such a drastic change needs to come from the top leadership.

One of the major problems facing Bangladesh today is the lack of cooperation between you two. In a democratic system there are appropriate roles for both the ruling and the opposition parties. Difference in opinion between the two parties is normal. However when it comes to the interest of the country there is no room for disagreement. Other democratic countries such as India, UK and USA have opposition parties and their leaders have serious disagreements over policies. However it is never personal and an atmosphere of civility is always maintained.

What Bangladesh and its people requests from you is that you look at the interest of its citizen first. The people of Bangladesh are hard working, intelligent and enterprising. You have the power to help Bangladesh join the ranks of the developed countries.

Honourable prime-minister, we request that you give the opposition parties its right to speak and provide positive criticism in the parliament. We request you to clamp down on crime and corruption, starting with those inside your own party and government officials.
Honourable ex-prime-minister, we request that you use the parliament to express any opposition to government policies and stop calling hartals. We request you to expose and get rid of corrupt party members.
These acts will only increase the peoples support for both of you.

Bangladesh has tremendous potential for growth and you two can play such a great role in that. Play that role and you will be remembered for ages to come. On the other hand, you can just look at your narrow self and party interest and the citizen of the country will suffer for years to come and you will end up as a foot-note in the pages of history.

Wouldnt it be a nice day when we all see a picture in the first page of the newspaper showing you two smiling and shaking your hands and committing to work together for all Bangladeshis. Thanks.
