Fable III / DLC complaints sign now

Dear Lionhead and Microsoft Officers and Executives,

This petition voices opinions shared by a number of gamers, in the hopes that you will seriously consider these issues, and commit to improving the satisfaction of your mutual customers.

The signees ask that you review/improve your processes and policies regarding the following, to the benefit of game buyers and to uphold their rights.

Due to pre-release interviews, Developer Diaries and general overhype of some aspects which are not part of the final game, we feel we were sold a product that did not match its advertising.

Taking into account that Fable II was released in a similar, sometimes unusable state in terms of bugs and glitches, and that we voiced our discontent at the time, we feel that we, as customers, were not heard, and that this product was, again, rushed to market for commercial reasons, thus not finished/finalized.

In many countries there are laws that protect consumers and state that a product can be returned if it is not a finished product or the product that the customer can "reasonably" expect.

Unfortunately, in a number of countries, we pay for games that are not returnable once the box is opened, unless the disc is physically defective. The stores don't accept game returns, and neither do game studios and publishers.

Breaking a game into small parts sold at "low prices" and inciting consumers to feel that they are not enjoying the full game experience so that they will buy more is not fair business.

For instance, if there is a shelf with randomly placed holes in the layout, it is only natural that a player expects these holes to be filled at some point during the game. The same applies with customization, which is a staple of Fable games. The number of outfits, dyes, hairstyles and other accessories included has been drastically reduced compared to Fable II, especially due to the fact that male/female outfits are, all things considered, duplicates.

Still on the subject of DLC, we feel that some currently proposed products are overpriced. As an example, the See The Future DLC for Fable II included:
- 10 new dyes
- 5 new complete outfits
- 1 new legendary weapon
- 3 new dog breeds
- 5 new face makeups
- a number of new hairstyles
- 13 new achievements worth 250 points

All for 560 Microsoft Points.

Only one year later, we are now asked to pay exactly the same price for only:
- 4 dyes
- 3 hairstyles
- 2 outfits

That can reasonably be deemed a very steep price increase.

This game also includes a "main character" that pressure sells not only the goods not purchased, but also the goods already owned in a consistent, highly insistent manner upon entry in the management area, i.e. a main element of the game.

We feel this is an unacceptable business practice. Other games offer DLC, but in less intrusive, constant ways, and there should at least be an option to deactivate this permanent prompting or to mark the items as already viewed/purchased as such to eliminate this underhanded sale tactic.

Although game studios are obligated to comply with the demands of publishers, we feel it remains their duty to not only advocate their creative integrity with the latter, but to also advocate the rights of their fans and customers.

As such, publishers should not be legally allowed to rush an unfinished product to market, and should delay release accordingly, to the benefit of game buyers, so that they will not purchase an unusable game, therefore "unenjoyable" goods, in such an event.

The undersigned have voiced their agreement with any or all of these principles, and, once again ask that the executives and officers in charge at both companies address these issues.

Lionhead promised many, many things that people were looking forward too, like the weapon morphing, which, in this case, was a major letdown. Seriously? Making your loyal customers pay for customization items, quests, and challenges that SHOULD, but WEREN
