EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ABSENT PARENTS sign now

A PETITION DATED 4th July 2005

1. Every parent regardless of, ethnic, political, or sexual, persuasion should have the right to see their offspring and their offspring should have the right to see both their parents during and after separation or divorce, and as implied separation to include those rights of parents that are legal guardians, or proven parents, but are currently not married..

2. There should be no inhibitors to access, by the resident parent, subject too; there being no sexual or physical abuse being committed by either parent, upon the child and or upon each other.

3. Within the points outlined above all children should have the right to free and un restricted access to the parent considered by the law as absent. Further to and including the above statement the petitioner has the right to expand this petition to include other groups or parents not initially covered within the confines of this petition.

4. This petition is by no means a documented proposal for change. The need for change can only be ascertained, and implemented by a full in depth review of current laws and acceptance of current issues being highlighted by absent parents and action groups.

Note:

However it must be noted that it is a considered opinion that the current system fails the absent parent and currently gives rightly or wrongly emphasis to the plight of the resident parent, allowing in many circumstances manipulation and control of the absent parent by the resident parent and associated family members.

A child needs the support of both parents to grow into an emotionally secure and socially responsible person. Failure to allow full parental access can only inhibit the social and emotional growth of the children concerned. Subject to the restriction clauses outlined in paragraph 2
