Education system needs to return to the basics sign now

I have an eight-year-old son in the third grade at Avery School in Webster Groves Missouri of Saint Louis County. Ill admit that he misbehaves in school more times than what he should; however, theres nothing wrong with my son. He just likes to showoff. Of course I feel that my son needs to be dealt with for his misbehavior, but Im actually appalled by how his teacher, principle and school social worker handle things. Hes only a child after all who likes to play. My sons second grade teacher had even disciplined him every time he moved a finger the wrong way, and allowed the other kids to get by with a lot more. Of course I realize that my son got the bad reputation from the start and he was the one that the teacher would keep an eye on, but still, that wasnt fair to my son. My sons grades are substandard and the school social worker had recommended that he see a therapist and/or a child psychiatrist. I did both. My son sees a therapist once every two weeks. The psychiatrist had diagnosed him as having the attention disorder and put him on medicine.

I dont believe any of what the schools staff and the doctor are saying. I had seen my sons homework assignments and what he was being introduced to in the second grade, I didnt get until I was in high school or just before anyway. I brought that fact up to the social worker and principle and they made out that the kids are smarter and more mature today than they were thirty years ago. If that is true then why is a large percentage of our kids being diagnose with attention disorder and placed on medicine. Is the school board trying to force our kids to exceed their learning capacity and to conform to one way of thinking? If so is the government involved? Many American citizens have relatives who fought in Germany during World War II to stop Adolf Hitler from conforming people into one way of thinking, and now is our school board and/or government doing the same thing?

I am truly worried that our school system has lost sight on how to educate our sons and daughters. I truly feel that the school system needs to be investigated for moral and possibly legal wrong doings. For those parents who feel the same way, I ask for you to sign my petition.

Thank you.
