Conservative Youth sign now

Today will never last more than twenty-four hours; tomorrow is infinite in the potential it holds and the progress it may see. Today belongs to us all, but it is clear that tomorrow belongs to the young. It is time to start looking on to tomorrow.

Because we leaders and founders of The Conservative Party of Canada have undertaken the establishment of a national conservative coalition with the intention that this party should live on for generations, we are determined in our resolve to ensure that this party is constantly focused on the future. The only way for us to ensure the livelihood of our party and the ideals that it represents is to ensure that we have created a prominent role for youth within our party.

The Conservative Youth of Canada must be established for the purpose of recruiting youth into our party. But more than that, it must be given the strength and the ability to train our young people and cultivate the skills that they need to better serve our party and our country. We must facilitate their growth for their benefit and indeed for our own.

We must integrate the youth with the rest of our party, and the Conservative Youth of Canada would be the best-suited mechanism by which we might realize that goal. To build the Canada of tomorrow, it is only fitting that we make absolutely certain that we include the leaders of tomorrow in the decision-making process. The youth of this party have a unique perspective that must be incorporated into our understanding of this country and our vision for it.

The Conservative Youth of Canada must serve as a cornerstone of our party, and as part of our constitution. The Agreement in Principal that forms the basis of this party refers to encouraging the participation and recruitment of youth in the Conservative Party of Canada as one of the key responsibilities of the party. Those were not meant to be empty words or hollow pledges. The role of the youth in this party must be clearly defined and of real importance.

The Conservative Party of Canada has played an integral role in the history of this country for nearly 150 years. Engaging our youth is without question the next step in ensuring it is an integral part of the next 150 years.
