Citizens of Philadelphia Support Philadelphias Property Service Workers in Their Struggle for a Fair Contract sign now

More than 2,100 men and women work hard every day to keep Center City Philadelphias commercial office buildings clean and well functioning. They work for cleaning and building maintenance contractors and commercial office building owners that reap large profits from their labor.

Because they stand together as members of Local 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union, they have a collective bargaining agreement that provides family-sustaining wages, employer paid health and pension benefits, and job security. Because they stand together as members of Local 32BJ, they can provide for their families, own their homes, educate their children, and plan for retirement. They are productive members of our Citys civic life.

In October 2007, Local 32BJs Collective Bargaining Agreement with Building Owners Labor Relations, Inc. (BOLR), the organization that represents a number of Philadelphias commercial office building owners, managers, and cleaning companies, expires.

It is critical for the health of our City and region that property services workers continue to get paid a family-sustaining wage and have affordable and high-quality health benefits for themselves and their families. The members of Local 32BJ work hard and they deserve dignity and respect on the job. Our City needs the services they provide.

As people who live and/or work in the Philadelphia area, we call on BOLR to act fairly when negotiating with Local 32BJ. We pledge to stand with the members of Local 32BJ until a fair contract has been achieved.
