Censorship in Korea sign now

A Call to halt the inappropriate censorship by the MIC.

We, the undersigned, petition the Government of Korea to repeal the ill-devised censorship of the internet and selected internet sites immediately and thereby restore democratic expression and freedom of speech that fundamental in any civilized nation.

We demand that the Korean Government and the MIC immediately stop the current online censorship on Blogger, Blogspot, Typepad and all other services being censored, which is a discrimination against the internet users who are not hosting or viewing the tragic decapitation video of Kim Seon Il. We believe that the Korean Government is promoting racism within the Korean Republic by allowing internet users to view the deaths of Nick Berg and Paul Johnson, but not Kim Seon Il.

We believe that the Government has the duty to consistently and fairly enforce the law and that it must avoid discriminating against any person. We believe that this censorship must stop immediately.

As a person who loves Korea, and always wishes it well, I believe that Korea is harming its own international reputation by the selective censorship of websites. Korea, as a country with 5000 years of proud history, should make every effort to live up to

I can appreciate wanting to limit the viewing but I'm not sure how the censorship of some sites will accomplish this or for how long. Nay on censorhip.

It's unfair to penalize so many online users for the rotten postings of a few. It's unfair, and it's also unconstitutional. It's also the kind of thing the rest of the world would be surprised and disappointed to learn, as it will give Korea a bad name as

Censorhip belittles the Korean government in the eyes of the international community. Does Korea really want to be associated with North Korea, China, and various Muslim states that censor internet access. I thought that Korea was a democracy not a dictat
