CBS Radio and Intertech Media sign now

We, the CBS Radio Webmasters undersigned, are concerned that Intertech Media and their "Vortal" System have become a hindrance and an unnecessary, and costly, hurdle in regards to the quality and maintenance of our respective cluster's websites. We cite the following to back up our stance:

1) We believe Intertech Media's "Vortal" system is a daunting, user-UNfriendly system that interferes with our work flow, is slowing down productivity, and is creating a backlog where there was little to none before.

2) We believe Intertech Media's "Vortal" system is not only a major step backward for those of us who have skills in web-design and content management, but is also exponentially harder for someone without web-design and content management to learn and understand.

3) We believe Intertech Media's server speed is far below the industry standard. Sites that used to load completely within 4 seconds, now take 10-15 seconds to fully load. This lagtime means a dramatic loss in web traffic and ad value to our clients. (see: http://www.akamai.com/html/about/press/releases/2006/press_110606.html)

4) We believe the monetary cost of using Intertech Media as our web content company, FAR OUTWEIGHS the benefit of having a standardized platform. Web hosts such as 1and1.com offer packages that will allow us to host our entire cluster's web traffic with nearly 3x the speed of Intertech for nearly $20 a month.

5) We believe that CBS Radio Webmasters who are knowledgable should have full FTP access to our pages and designs, allowing us the ability to change every detail of our site when we need it, not when an Intertech representative can do it.

6) We believe in CBS Radio's goal of having national advertisements on all CBS Radio websites and having involvement in the content of our respective sites, but believe that Intertech Media and "Vortal" are not the correct step towards that goal.

7) We believe that Intertech Media has had difficulty in finding an easy and reasonable way to transport our former designs to the current system without several errors.

8) Although we respect Intertech Media and their employees who have been patient with us throughout the switch, we believe that their "Vortal" platform does not meet the standards required to be considered an effective replacement for CBS Radio's web presense.
