CBS News - Accuracy in Reporting sign now

CBS News has displayed an unprecedented level of distain for the facts and accuracy in reporting by continuing to claim that four memos it aired on the September 8th, 2004 edition of 60 Minutes are genuine. The documents in question were used as evidence that during his tenure in the Air National Guard, George W. Bush failed to meet requirements, and that his superior officers were pressured to sugarcoat Bushs record.

It has been demonstrated well beyond any reasonable doubt that these documents are crude forgeries, created in modern word processing software unavailable at the date the memos were supposedly written. No reputable forensic expert who has examined the documents in question has publicly stated that he/she views them as genuine. In fact, countless analysts have stated their opinions that the memos are forgeries for a litany of reasons.

It is obvious that CBS News is not only a disreputable source of information, but that the organization has a complete and total disrespect for the intelligence of its viewers.

We are therefore demanding that CBS News reveal the source of the forged memos, and that Dan Rather publicly apologize for either intentionally misleading the American public, or failing to properly investigate the legitimacy of the memos in question.
