Bring Antoine Walker back to Boston sign now

We, the undersigned, urge Wyc Grousbeck, Red Auerbach, Danny Ainge, Chris Wallace and the rest of the Boston Celtics organization to bring back Antoine Walker as a member and co-captain of the Boston Celtics via trade or off-season acquisition. We believe it is time for Danny Ainge to admit to his major error of previously trading Walker and underestimating his impact on and off the court to the organization and the city of Boston.

The Celtics with Walker reached the Eastern Conference Finals and Semi-Finals in back-to-back seasons. The Celtics without Walker are at best a perennial sub .500 team struggling to reach the playoffs.

It is obvious to the undersigned, that the combination of Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker is still an extremely potent one, and one that would pay dividends if surrounded by the quality role players that the Celtics already have. It is also clear to the undersigned, that Paul Pierce is not the leader that Walker once was and desperately needs Walker to shoulder some of the responsibility in order for the Celtics to once again become a successful team.

Not only was Antoine Walker effective on the court, he was also an active contributor to the community while a member of the Boston Celtics and continues to be active while a member of other teams. Walker is a founder of "The 8 Foundation". The mission of the 8 Foundation is to provide positive life experiences and opportunities for inner-city youth while fostering stable and loving environments for young people living in Boston and Antoines hometown of Chicago. In addition, the Foundation supports single parents. Other charity foundations founded or assisted by Walker include The Real Deal Program, Camp 8, The AAU Program, and Walker's Wigglers. Walker is also a winner of the NBA's Community Assist Awards, which recognizes players for their charitable efforts on a monthly basis.

It is evident to the undersigned that Antoine Walker is a ferocious competitor and a consummate leader. A clear example of this was during Game 3 of the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals, when Walker's fiery words before the fourth quarter sparked the Celtics to come back and defeat the New Jersey Nets after trailing by as many as 26 points.

In conclusion, if Danny Ainge wants to save face and salvage the rest of his tenure as Executive Director of Basketball Operations, it would serve his best interests to bring back Antoine Walker as a member of the Boston Celtics. The Boston Celtics are a better team with Antoine Walker and Antoine Walker is a better player as a member of the Celtics. Without his presence and leadership, this current group of players will struggle to reach the playoffs, let alone compete for a championship.
