Boycott United 93 - They were NOT Heroes sign now

We, the undersigned, want to see United 93 boycotted for the following reasons.

Someone acting out of a sense of self-preservation is not a hero. So what if they tried to take back the plane to save their own lives? What should they do? Sit there and say "oh well, time to die now." If you think anyone of these "heroes" would have voluntarily gotten on that plane to save 1 or 1000 lives you're living in a fantasy world. They didn't do anything to "save Washington."

The important fact is that they failed in their goal. We don't make movies about people who fail out of high school and end up on the streets. We don't make movies about people who fail at their life's ambition and end up miserable the rest of their lives.

Think about the movie Apollo 13. People would have been saying "What the hell?" if they had failed at the end.

If they had succeeded, the movie would be interesting. If you want to call it a competition between hijackers and passengers, then the hijackers win by a nose. After all, the hijackers wanted to die, just not in that way.

Also, consider this.

Really, why do Americans care that this plane crashed? Seriously, Americans barely give a second look when hundreds of thousands of people die in other countries. They don't even care when their own country causes it. They don't care if terrorists cause it, America causes it, or a natural disaster causes it. Suddenly, a couple buildings go down in the US and everyone in the world has to feel their pain.

Here's why. People are selfish. The closer something hits to home, the more they care. Not because they feel bad for those other people but because they are scared for themselves. The closer someone who is attacked is to you (be it nationality, race, ideology, religion), the more you care. The very definition of selfish.

You have to couple this with how soft Americans are physically, mentally, and emotionally (perhaps the softest that have ever existed on this planet). I would be amazed if Americans could handle a real crisis. Fear is the price you pay for being as soft as you are and as dependent on technology for survival as you are. I think most people would be surprised to know how many Americans actually depend on modern mass production and modern conveniences for survival. They literally would die if there was a massive blow to the economy or a major disaster. People kept alive by modern conveniences and manufacturing techniques is totally unnatural. And America is an extreme example of this.
