Wrong Measure to Bifurcate Palakkad Division of Southern Railways

Mr. Chairman,





Through this petition, we the people of India call upon your best studied interest onto the Divisional bifurcation of PGT Divn.





The formation of the new SALEM division has some concerns. It calls for a statement of explanation in the better interest of Indians as to





A. the basis of awarding 850 Km of running distance to the new division, whereas the existing PGT is being cut to almost half 450 Km.





It has never been the practice in IR to create a new division by making the existing division lesser in terms of KM's.





B. You would know that Salem - Udagamandalam (UAM, Ooty) would be 235 Km whereas PGT - UAM would only be 135 Km. An item that defies understanding is the decision to move Nilgiri Mountain Railway to Salem division when administratively this heritage railway is closer to PGT as is now.





C. What logistical problem is going to be resolved by moving Coimbatore onto Salem Div? Please consider the distance in the present setup to HQ and proposed.





D. Why would Linguistic areas be considered while creating a Railway Division in the INDIAN RAILWAYS. IR is a Central Govt wing and is supposed to unite one & all in India and not create divisions based on Creed, Caste OR Language.





E. Why would the SR not look at re-organizing divisions in the vicinity to create a new division?





While we fully support administrative reform and re-organization it calls upon the management under you to provide for the questions above and accordingly redecide the boundaries of the new division to be formed.
