BestBuy Employee Rights sign now

First of all, if you are an employee of BestBuy and fear losing your job or getting fired over signing this petition, PLEASE sign first name and last initial to protect your job because according to Best Buy, we are not intitled to negative opinions about the company... being an under paid employee and all.

This PETITION was started by an employee that works for the retail store.

Overall, this petition represents the people and employees that keep the Best Buy company up and running. The retail employees, the pumping and beating heart of the company, are demanding to be treated equally and civil just like we treat our customers. We are forced to treat mean, rude, and vulgar customers on a daily basis with mutual respect; so therefore, we desire the same treatment from our managment and head of staff. Instead we are treated like grunts... front line grunts, at that, while our management sits in the employee lounge all day watching 62" plasma TV's and taking our tips that the appreciative customer rewards us with!.

What we are looking for...
1. Service Installers are allowed to accept tips from happy customers. I was givin a $50 tip last Christmas season. However, my supervisor prompted me to give it to managment.
2. Our lunch breaks are assigned, instead of us figuring out when the right time is. We are forced to take lunchs, yet they are NOT assigned. Even smaller corporations like Winn Dixie assign regular lunchs and the Front End Manger informs you when the time for your lunch is.
3. The employee discount is cost of, with no 5\% PLUS rule.
4. The employee discount is initiated upon hiring, and not 90 days after.
5. Employees who are considered PT are NOT assigned over 25 hours. A fellow employee works 37.5 hours a week, yet the management considers them part time to avoid giving him the benefits he deserves.
6. Annual raises are TRUE 3-5\% increases as the obvious managment positions are.
7. Monthly Employee Appreciation Days.
8. Employees are scheduled to work based up upon their availabilty form, and not 2-10 one day and 10-6 the next.
9. Daily learning center lessons are eliminated, as they are oh so pointless.
10. Managment outside of the store to visit each department on a regular basis and get to know their employees better. I've worked for BB for about 5 years and haven't seen anyone higher than a GM from the store. Why is this??
11. Commision based sales for sales persons. Even as little as .5\% would motivate sales persons to sell our products more effectively. Profits would not only rise, but employees would also be happier.

The outlined 11 DEMANDS are simple. They will improve the work place; the way baseline employees view management, AS well AS working for BestBuy in whole; and also, profit margins will increase because of happier workers. As it stands, 2 out of every 3 employees, on average, say that Best Buy could stand to improve in atleast 3-4 aspects of the company. I've simplified most of the top 11 requests and views of the frontline employees in this list to speak to corporate, and remind them that we are the back bone of the company.

If you look at the list from an employee stand point, then you must consider our requests. When I was hired by Best Buy, I was told that employee satisfaction as well as customer satisfaction were the company's TOP priorities among a list of things. While the company excels in customer satisfaction; the company also losses motivated employees each and everyday because they simply don't get treated as well as they deserve by managment.

My message to you, being the Best Buy corporate & staff, please consider where you started and how you felt as you worked your way to where you are today. There is many individuals trying to do good for the company, while we get shafted everyday out of our benefits, wages, and rights. A happy employee means a better company in whole. Improvments are like chain reactions. Therefore, the changes and improvements must be started with corporate.

I hope you, the signer, enjoy your expierence working for Best Buy; and I hope you, the corporate employer, find this as an oppurtunity to improve your companys morale, ethics, and progression towards being the top electronic retailer in the nation and world.
