BCB Future and Support sign now

We, the Borland C++ Builder (BCB) Community, have been appalled by the lack of professional support and commitment from Borland Software Corporation Inc. (Borland) to its BCB customers.

Our dissatisfaction stems from Borland's lack of commitment in the following areas:

1. Bug reports in Quality Central have not been appropriately attended by Borland to fix and improve BCB. No feedback has been provided to customers whether reported bugs will be fixed in current products or only in subsequent releases. Many bugs have been left unfixed, thus degrading the quality of the product.

2. No BCB product roadmap or commitments of releasing future BCB products have been provided to the BCB community. Your marketing policy of, "We will release it when its ready!" is utter bull shit! (Pardon my French!) This is because Borland has provided an "Open Letter to the Delphi Community" (see http://bdn.borland.com/article/0,1410,29951,00.html) to the Delphi community on announcing Delphi v8 and that it would be released by the end of 2003! Thus, Borland is treating the BCB Community unfairly by not releasing any sort of information on BCBv7/BCBv8.

3. BCB product releases have always been lagging behind its Delphi counterpart. This is also an avenue where Borland has treated the BCB community unfairly. Developers do not in any way like to be forced in buying outdated technology and tools!!

3. The above problems and treatment from Borland is causing many developers in the BCB Community to abandon the BCB tools and switch to Borland's competitors' products. Borlands actions are thus counter productive!

4. Borland is also stifling market growth for the BCB product line by not releasing needed information and refusing to actively promote/market BCB! We want the BCB Community to grow, but Borland is getting in our way!!

Using the above problems as evidence, many in the BCB Community believe that Borland will gradually put an end to the BCB product line. Therefore, we, the BCB Community, DEMAND that Borland provide an Open Letter to C++ Builder Community clarifying Borlands commitment and action on the above issues!! We are your customers and therefore it is OUR RIGHT TO DEMAND as such!

We, the BCB Community, have invested money, time, skill and experience in BCB tools, that we depend on it. Borlands negligence and lack of commitment to the BCB Community will make it harder for us to compete in the market place.

Borland C++ Builder is the most revolutionary C++ RAD environment in the market. It would be a definite loss to the software industry if Borland continues to give it a slow and painful death!

We stand by our tools and so should Borland! We will make our intentions known to the public via various news outlets. We are not giving up, so why should Borland give up?

Thank you for your co-operation and serious consideration on the above matters.

2 years ago I changed from Delphi to C++, because it is a more common language. For me it will be a very serious situation when BCB does not have a future. Currently using BCB for ... programming, developing the main application of my company.
