BAN ENDOSULFAN IN INDIA sign now

To:
The Prime Minister (Government of India)
South Block, Raisina Hill,
New Delhi,
India-110 101.

Sir,
We the undersigned are very much concerned about continued Endosulfan use in India. Endosulfan, the notorious organo chlorine pesticide, made havoc on people and ecosystem with persistent impact in Kasargode, the northern part of Kerala, and Karnataka deriving from its aerial spraying on the plantations. Numerous people, especially children, are the victims of this dangerous pesticide. Congenital anomalies, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy are found in children. Many types of cancer, especially of liver and blood, infertility and undescended testis in men, and miscarriages and hormonal irregularities in women are commonly reported in this area. And, many more health disorders are also reported. Many studies have found the Endosulfan makes havoc on people and ecosystem, and, it is a persistent organic pollutant. 84 countries have already banned the use of Endosulfan. The USA is dispensing with its use in phased manner. However, Government of India has not shown any sign in this direction. The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants is a global treaty to protect human health and the environment from highly dangerous, long-lasting chemicals. Taking into consideration the dangerous impact of Endosulfan on people and ecosystem, Government of India should take action in the Stockholm Convention to get Endosulfan completely banned.

Sincerely,
The Undersigned
Sincerely,
