Animal Abuse sign now

To the Prosecutor Ruth Hollan and the Honorable Judge Linda Armstrong who are involved in the case of Laura Pope who was charged with Animal Cruelty:

We, the collective individuals representing the concerned citizens of the United States and other parts of the world, do hereby state that due to the horrific conditions that the animals in Laura Pope's care were forced to endure, Ms. Pope should be prosecuted to the full extent that the law allows and the maximum punishment for such cruelty be imposed upon her.

Ms. Pope should not be allowed to get away with using these dogs as "puppy factories" for the purpose of selling puppies as a means to derive income to support herself. Ms. Pope obviously had no regard to the health and well being of these animals and failed to maintain at least the minimal standard of acceptable animal husbandry. No animal, especially man's best friend, should ever be forced to eat, sleep, reproduce and live in their own feces and urine because of the failure of their "care-taker" to provide proper sanitation.

No domesticated animal should be forced to live in a confined area without being provided access to adequate shelter from the elements nor the ability to seek out shelter due to the nature of their confinement.

No domesticated animal should endure being denied medical treatment that they so obviously need, nor should they be denied proper nutrition and human socialization due to their "care-taker's" failure to be concerned with such.

No one forced Ms. Pope to acquire or keep so many dogs, she did this of her own free will and knowingly had more animals then she could adequately care for. Her "hiding" the vast majority of these animals in a hollow on her property in unacceptable conditions proves that she had purposeful intent to violate the law.

If Laura Pope is not prosecuted to the full extent the law allows for each count of animal cruelty, this will be sending a message to not only the citizens of the State of Kentucky, but to the citizens of this country as well as other countries around the world who are observing this case that it is deemed an acceptable practice to keep animals in such conditions without fear of the consequences of the laws of the State of Kentucky. Furthermore, we feel Ms. Pope should lose all rights to the animals discovered in her custody and be forever barred for owning an animal.

We, the undersigned, do hereby state that we are over the age of 18 years and insist that Laura Pope's treatment of the animals in her custody is totally unacceptable and Ms. Pope should suffer the full consequences of her actions.
