A Better Ending for "Phil of the Future" sign now

Dear Disney Channel,

We, the fans of the series "Phil of the Future," have recently been struck with the news that the show has been cancelled. We feel it is an unfair move against a show that has a significant fan base, great writing, and great acting. We also feel that the "series finale," "Back to the Future," did not adequately resolve the plot lines created in the show. We respectfully suggest that Disney Channel consider an alternative to such a drastic movement, or at least follow the lead of "Lizzie McGuire" and "Even Stevens" and send "Phil of the Future" off with a movie.

Consider the following:

1 - "Lizzie McGuire" was not as well-written as "Phil of the Future." With all due respect to Hilary Duff, Ms. Duff did not have the same acting talent or ability to draw laughs as Ricky Ullman. Yet Lizzie McGuire ran for three years and closed out with a movie. How is it fair that "Phil of the Future" only receives one year and no movie?

2 - "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" is currently Disney's "flagship" show. Although "The Suite Life" is a great show with the same kind of great writing and acting as "Phil of the Future," it is aimed more toward a younger audience and does not employ some of the same humor as "Phil of the Future." The two shows are of near equal caliber, so why is only "Phil of the Future" being cancelled?

3 - "Back to the Future" ended the series horribly. It was neither decisive nor conclusive and the ending left a lot to be wanted. The characters of Phil and Keely said their goodbyes as if they hadn't been best friends and a close couple. Yes, we "Pheely" fans enjoyed the kiss, but the resulting goodbyes threw away the characters that had been built and was clearly a quick ending to the series. It does not seem plausible that none of the other Diffys have reason to stay in 2005. Neither does it seem plausible that after all three other Diffys tried to destroy the time engine, they didn't sit down for a talk and consider their options. The "finale" was clearly a quick way to end the series and didn't do such a great show justice.

We, the fans, respectfully request that Disney Channel reconsider their decision to cancel such a great show. We thank Disney for providing great, family-friendly entertainment for years past and (hopefully) years to come. Thank you for your time and patience.
