#80 belongs to Steve Largent not jerry Rice sign now

On Oct. 18th Jerry Rice was traded to the Seattle Seahawks from the Oakland Raider under Rice's wish. He had asked to be traded a week prior to the trade. When he arrived to Seattle Rice asked Steve Largent for permission to unretire the number in Seattle, which Rice has worn throughout his NFL career, and received his blessing. When he said that, it sent chills through my body, Rice said.
Hey Jerry if a brief case full of $100 bills ended up in my house it would send chills through my body too, but that doesn't mean it's yours.
I have created this petition to ultimately reach the NFL and the Seahawks organization. If A-Rod came to the Yanks and asked to wear a retired number they would laugh at him. If Kobe Bryant went to the Bulls and asked for #23 and #45 what would happen? Steve Largent is the icon similar to the Babe and MJ in what he has given Seattle and the Seahawks and it is wrong and sets an example to other people that they can come to a team and take a retired number. It is common courtesy not to. It's bad for sports.
