8-1/2 by 11 Headshots sign now

For decades now, aspiring performers have suffered needless agony in pursuit of your consideration for work on theatrical productions, commercials, modeling gigs, TV shows, interpretive dance pieces and movies (and a lot of other modes of entertainment not mentioned here) which require a headshot and resume submission, or, to use the language of the vernacular, an H/R.

We believe it is sick and wrong to make us spend countless amounts of time and money, incurring paper cut gashes, in order to trim an 8-1/2 by 11 piece of paper (our resumes) to fit on the back of an 8 by 10 headshot.

A career in entertainment already has enough quirks and sweet humiliations built in without this silly waste of time. Do we really need to continue a process for no reason other than thats the way its always been done?

We, the undersigned, know within our passionate, sensitive, artistically-gifted souls, that no producer, director, agent, photographer or casting director will ignore our plea.

We want 8-1/2 by 11 H/Rs to be the new Industry Standard.

The 8-1/2 by 11 headshot is simply an idea whose time has come. Sophisticated in its simplicity, masterful in its obviousness, we know that you, too, will see the logic in this groundbreaking idea.

Please hear our call. We have bled unnecessarily for too long (and the smaller the cuts are, the more they hurt). Even if we havent bled, weve been really, really annoyed, and its hurting our workand yours too, by the way.

You can put our dream into effect: simply stop accepting 8 by 10 H/Rs. Put the word out that you are only accepting 8-1/2 by 11 H/Rs. In truth, this will make things easier for you, for we live in an 8-1/2 by 11 world. The H/Rs will fit perfectly in manila envelopes, filing folders and storage boxes. Your offices, audition rooms and studios will run with a magnificence heretofore unknown. And most importantly, your performers will be eternally grateful.

Please consider our fervent desire and just say bo to 8 by 10 H/Rs.

I agree! In the meantime, for $6, Staples will cut down an entire ream of paper in one go. No paper cuts, just an unnecessary spending of $6.
