Request to New Zealand Immigration to concider Iranian student current situation sign now

Immigration of New Zealand

This letter has been writing on behalf of a group of Iranian students who are currently studying at different Universities of New Zealand. The purpose of this letter is to explain about our situation and difficulties that each of us is facing due to the problems that we have with the unstable economic situation in Iran, as you might have heard on the news.

Initially, we have decided to study in New Zealand with a lot of hope for a brighter future, also to be able to make a positive difference in our lives and everybody else’s. One of the biggest issues for every single Iranian student who is studying overseas is the recent change that has happened to our currency. This means that our currency has been lost its value about 75% just in two months. This makes our fee up to 3 times higher than what we had expected and made our plans on. This is clearly the effect of sanctions which has been caused by the Iranian government which is not taking any part of this big amount of payment. So we are all getting supported from our families, not to mention the difficulties they have to transfer money for us again caused by sanctions. This has had a huge impact on us in here in terms of living cost and of course university fees as well. Also we would like to mention that as an Iranian citizen we had no role in any of these decisions that the government has made.

As it has been mentioned earlier this letter has been writing behalf of all Iranian Students. We all decided to come to New Zealand and study with a lot of hope. For many of us continuing to study with this situation is almost impossible, not to mention what we have already spent without completing our courses is basically a waste of money and time but most importantly our hopes for future which is leading to a different direction from what we have expected.

We are all desperately asking New Zealand Immigration services to take a step to help us to be able to continue our study by allowing us to study part time instead of full time and also support us to getting a student visa in this situation. It can help us to find a part time job while we study. Also, it helps us to pay smaller amount of money instead of one full amount at first. Australia has given a one year leave with full time work permit to all Iranian students studying there. We all hope this circumstance won’t last long.

We would like to thank you in advance for your consideration of this letter and would really appreciate if New Zealand government supports us to finish our studies. Lastly, we like to ask the Immigration officers who are kindly reading this letter to consider the students’ lives and that whatever decision they make would definitely have a huge impact in our lives.

The students who have signed this petition share the same opinion and make the same request.

Thank you

Best regards
