Bring in better protection for Irish people by implementing more severe penalties for the underage sign now

The law for underage criminal offences are not dealt with effectively. These people end up growing up used to "getting away" with these crimes and because they are not addressed at the age they should have been addressed at, the chance of them doing the offences again throughout their lives are very likely. How does this protect the people of our country? To add to that, the guards are not protected properly therefore they cannot protect us properly. Guards need self-defense and that is a fact! If youngsters can go around hitting people with lethal weapons, I think it is time for the guards to be allowed to have something to protect innocent people from these vile people.

Ireland needs to become a safer place and happier place for all of us. Justice is needed for the unfortunate families who were affected by these scarring incidences such as violent attacks, sexual assaults and robberies that leave them terrified of leaving their homes.

- Guards need to be armed/ have some sort of self-defence training
- Juvenile age needs to be lowered to 15 years old

- Juvenile's need more severe penalties including teaching them about wellness and mental health.

-These people would benefit highly from CBT, psychotherapy and psychiatry and all should be required to undergo mental tests and sessions with psychiatrists/ psychologists whilst in juvenile and for 1-2 years afterwards. They should only be discharged when no further crimes have been committed for at least 2 years.

These people who commit these acts very likely have mental issues that need addressing therefore it is uptmost in the governments best interest to implement the good old saying" prevention is better than cure" and bring about better wellness and mental health services for all children in primary and secondary schools. As well as that, when a crime like this is committed, the child should have to go through intensive mental health care and not only that but the family they live with must also go through counseling and mental care to promote the effectiveness of the child and in these cases it is very common that it has got to do with bad habits from siblings and cultural means within their families and societies. If we work towards getting to the root of the problem, we will be working effectively towards a safer, happier Ireland for all.
