SAVE THE 200 YEAR OLD ELMS IN UNION TERRACE GARDENS, ABERDEEN sign now

ALL THE TREES IN UNION TERRACE GARDENS WILL BE REMOVED TO BUILD THE CITY GARDEN PROJECT

As reported in the Aberdeen Evening Express on the 26th January 2012.

This will include the 17 elm trees, said to be at least 200 years old. It was also reported that the deadwood will be used in the construction of the project:

"the wood used in the pathways and the roof of the outdoor stage will be from the trees, which will be felled, keeping them in the garden."

This is an offence against nature and an insult to those who value the much-loved city centre park.

We insist that Aberdeen Council should preserve all the mature trees in Union Terrace Gardens including the 17 ancient elms.
