OVERDEVELOPMENT AT WHITE CITY sign now

PLEASE SIGN UP AGAINST
OVERDEVELOPMENT AT WHITE CITY,
LONDON W12

We are fighting several proposals, which are supported by Hammersmith & Fulham Council, for commercially aggressive, energy extravagant, high-rise developments in a low-rise residential area of West London, extending from the old BBC Worldwide site down to Westfield.

The plans would mean
• Engulfment by dense urban development like Paddington Basin but
• A cluster of high towers of investor flats, over 30 storeys
• Impossible strain on local roads and sewers &c and
• A precedent for high-rise development in the surrounding areas, along Westway, from Wood Lane, through Portobello and Westbourne Green to Paddington Basin.

The Hammersmith & Fulham and the GLA are not listening to us, despite ʻthe Big Societyʼ and the ideals of Neighbourhood Planning. The GLA and the government are using the term 'sustainable' to mean business growth, not environmentally self-replenishing developments of the future.

As usual the moneymen are making the decisions

The GLA, the developers and the local planners need to listen to and act on the Public’s views. We do not want our established local communities to be blighted by big business. Beneficial significant development is possible if it is medium rise and sensitively interlinked to social and environmental infrastructure.

We know that similar battles are being struggled with in other areas, http://www.london.gov.uk/priorities/planning/opportunity-areas/opportunity-areas-location
And there are many more on the way

Please join us in our fight to have a say, and we will join you too if you need our support. Please sign below
To Hammersmith & Fulham Council and the Mayor for London
We the undersigned call on you to
• Halt the plans for excessive commercially driven schemes in the White City area
• Properly integrate feedback from the public, rather than pay lip service to consultation exercises,
• Prevent the permanent damage to our neighbourhood.

We do not want
EMPTY TOWERS OF INVESTOR FLATS
WITHOUT AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR LOCAL PEOPLE
HIGH DENSITY AND ENERGY EXTRAVAGANT PLANNING
HOSTILE CITYSCAPE AND IMPOSSIBLE DEMANDS ON ROADS, PARKING, SEWERS &C
We do want
BENEFICIAL SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT
WHICH IS MEDIUM RISE AND
SENSITIVELY INTERLINKED TO EXISTING SOCIAL
AND ENVIRONMENTAL INFRASTRUCTURE.
