Antigua, Barbuda demands reparation for African slave trade sign now

The vicissitudes of slavery, the lack of an apology and the absence of reparation and racism are at the heart of the despair and killing which ensues. Those communities that have suffered holocaust; were apologised to and received reparation, have found their places in the World’s society of nations, brought closure to that experience, thus giving them time to participate in the development of competitive technology to enhance the well being of their peoples.
1. The Jews were given $97bn, Israel and the weaponry to defend Israel against the Arabs. It is also alleged that the Jews were given nuclear weaponry to ensure their superiority of the region.
2. In 1975, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II sent a written apology to the Maori Nation of New Zealand, and agreed for them to be paid $97m, and return 30,000 acres of land to them.
3. President Ronald Reagan paid $20,000 to each Japanese American and their families who were interned during the Second World War.
4. The anomaly was Haiti. Haiti was made to pay France 150 million gold francs, equivalent to $21bn, because of Toussaint L’Overture’s win over Napoleon’s forces. That demand was imposed with the support of the USA.
The second anomaly is the refusal of the USA to pay their enslaved 40 acres and a mule to all the former enslaved, whilst the inheritors of the wealth of slavery have exponentially maximised the wealth of slavery. The Forty Acres and a Mule offer is in response to the support given by tens of thousands of freed slaves who left their plantations to follow Union general William Tecumseh Sherman's army.
To solve problems caused by the mass of refugees, Sherman issued Special Field Orders, No. 15, a granting each freed family forty acres of tillable land on islands and the coast of Georgia. The army had a number of unneeded mules which were also granted to settlers.

I. The islands from Charleston, south, the abandoned rice fields along the rivers for thirty miles back from the sea, and the country bordering the St. Johns River, Florida, are reserved and set apart for the settlement of the Negroes now made free by the acts of war and the proclamation of the President of the United States.
At the United Nations – The Caribbean Island state of Antigua and Barbuda has demanded reparations for injustices suffered by African slaves and their descendants.
Mr. Baldwin Spencer, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, told the UN General Assembly annual debate on Saturday that segregation and violence against people of African descent had impaired their capacity for advancement as nations, communities and individuals.
“None have disagreed that racism and other legacies of slavery; continue to shape the lives of people of African descent, thus reparations must be directed toward repairing the damage inflicted by slavery and racism.”
He stressed that former slave-owning states should begin a reconciliation process by formally apologising for the crimes committed by the nations or their citizens over the 400 years of the African slave trade.
“And to help counter the lingering damage inflicted on generations of peoples of African descent by generations of slave-trading and colonialism, we call on those very states to back up their apologies with new commitments to the economic development of the nations that have suffered from this human tragedy.”
The planned African Diaspora Summit in South Africa in 2012 would provide a platform for Africans in the Diaspora to put in place economic policies to ensure sustained economic cooperation among public and private stakeholders to promote development, entrepreneurship and business opportunities.
