Reverse the deportation order of Muhamet Bajraktari and Ganimete Berisha sign now

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens of Chatham-Kent. We call you to reverse the deportation order of Chatham-Kent residents Muhamet Bajraktari and Ganimete Berisha and their young daughter, Eliza Bajraktari, who was born in Chatham.

This couple have productive, working citizens of the Chatham community since arriving in Canada with with work permits in 2007, paying taxes and contributing to the local economy without needing social assistance. They will remain hard-working, productive members of society if they are allowed to stay in Canada.

After they were unable to get their work visas reinstated in 2010, they applied for refugee status with the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada on humanitarian and compassionate grounds, but were turned down.

They face imminent danger if they return to their homeland of Kosovo (formerly Siberia) in southern Europe. Bajraktari said he fears persecution by the Albania National Army (ANA) not for any wrongdoing but because his late father was a high-ranking police officer and worked in the secret service for Siberia.

He says he's been pulled over on multiple occasions by the ANA and called "the son of a spy". He's also stated that he's had to flee from the ANA multiple times, including being shot at.
