Force the Farhi Corporation to follow London bylaw regarding the display of Signs & Canopies. No Corporation is above the Law! sign now

The city of London has a bylaw prohibiting giant banner signs such as those displayed all over the downtown core by the Farhi Corporation. These banners have cheapened the look of our city by covering the sides of buildings with giant advertisements that only serve to benefit the corporation. What if every building displayed it's ownership in such a fashion? London's downtown landscape would be reduced to a series of competitive billboards, banners, and advertisements, each getting bigger and louder in order to direct our attention to a game of "who owns what".

In November, the London Free Press printed an article entitled "Farhi Sign Crackdown Looms" where it was stated that "[t]he city’s sign bylaw has long prohibited giant banner signs, and when one went up, the city would ask it to be removed. The vast majority of property owners would then take them down, sometimes replacing them with smaller signs that complied with the bylaw. But Farhi wouldn’t take down his signs — he instead complained to city hall" (http://www.lfpress.com/news/london/2010/10/31/15899606.html).

The Sign & Canopy By-Law document, printed under and by the authority of the Council of the City of London, Ont., Canada, can be found online at http://www.london.ca/By-laws/PDFs/sign.pdf

Section 10.1 (d) of the document entitled "Prohibitions" clearly states "a corporation flag or emblem exceeding 5.0 square metres in area" is prohibited.

No corporation, or person, should be above the laws and regulations that govern our city; regardless of the amount of money or land that these companies posess. In order to pressure our city's council to hold all people/companies equally accountable under the law please sign this petition.

If this by-law is easily disregarded by the Farhi Holdings Corporation with no consequence, what is next?
