Petition for 20 is Plenty in Wylam sign now

20mph is much safer for people walking and cycling because drivers have far more chance to react before hitting someone: Your stopping distance at 30mph is nearly double that at 20mph.

We are a Wylam residents group supporting the national GO 20 campaign to bring 20mph to Wylam and achieve safer roads in the village for everyone.

There are numerous ‘black spots’ in Wylam particularly around the roads leading to the First school, the Jubilee playing fields and by the bridge. All these would benefit from having a 20mph speed limit.

20mph is affordable and a political priority at the moment, it avoids controversial and expensive traffic calming humps, pinch points etc.
